School praised
I recently went to visit the newly constructed Lafayette Elementary/Middle School located on Connellsville Street in Uniontown. This building is beautiful and the structure looks great, but my concern wasn’t the structure of the building but what resides in it.
We all know that just because something looks good doesn’t mean that there is substance. Well, what I saw and was reintroduced to was very surprising and encouraging. In the past, Lafayette has been known as the school of the lost and regarded as a place of misfits.
This is what I would call an “urban myth,” meaning it’s a story, generally untrue but sometimes one that is merely exaggerated, that gains the status of folklore by continual retelling.
We’ve been lead to believe through third-party conversations that this school has no potential to produce anything good. These types of conversations cause many to believe the tricks that create scenarios that cause us to think a certain way toward the school, staff and students which project false images of LaFayette.
We need to build healthy relationships with Lafayette which will generate overall success that comes from our strengths. When people attempt to control through gossiping it brings stress that frames our thinking which supports unhealthy relationships based on ignorance.
Take a moment to support and get involved with Lafayette’s newfound success with a visit, send a word of encouragement, or volunteer.
