Should smoking indoors be further restricted in PA? Two Republican lawmakers are attempting to prohibit smoking in some places where it’s still allowed, like bars, nightclubs and casinos. Would you be happy to see this law go through, or not? Why/why not?

“Businesses owned and operated by an individual should have the right to allow smoking if they choose.”

“If that law passes, I think those businesses will lose money … I’m a nonsmoker.”

“The non-smoking ban has been in effect in W.Va. for around a year, and I have friends that own bars whose businesses have been affected greatly. Some have even closed. The majority of people who came to these bars smoked, and they have lost a lot of customers. It should be the owner’s choice.”

“I’d enjoy seeing them spend their time on bigger issues…these are comic diversions…we have met the enemy, and it is distractive politics. Smoking is a health hazard, without question, but it’s a bluegill among whales that represents both the state’s and nation’s challenges.”

“That’s a good way to put more businesses under. Smokers should have rights, too. Is there anything the government doesn’t have their noses in?”

“One of the reasons healthcare costs are sky high is because of smokers. Smoking causes cancer. Why should people have the right to inflict cancer-causing smoke? If you want to smoke, go home and do it. Such a disgusting addiction.”

“If you want to kill yourself, go ahead, just don’t take anyone with you. Four years smoke-free.”

“Ban it! I don’t want to breathe it.”

“What about the poor workers subjected to secondhand smoke? If there wasn’t proof that smoke damages lungs, causes COPD and cancer, I’d say let them smoke in public. This is a no-brainer. We are not allowed to physically accost someone or harm them without repercussion with the law. Why should smoking be exempt? Ban it. If you have to smoke, stay home.”

“It has been banned in California for many years now, and the bars are thriving, and there are fewer heart attacks, and the lung cancer rate is going down. Come on, Pennsylvania, you can do this.”

“Five years from now we’ll wonder why there was even a debate about this. Just like how you used to smoke on airplanes and everywhere else. The end is near for cigarettes. Thank God!
