The Supreme Court of the United States has struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, granting equal rights and benefits to married gay and lesbian couples (including tax breaks, pension rights and other benefits that are available to married couples). What’s your take on this landmark decision?

“And America continues on its downward spiral.”

“This ruling has major implications for Roe v. Wade.”

“Please, that’s the last of America’s worries. And who cares? These people should have every right that every American is entitled to. Which includes marriage and what comes along with it. Are they bothering you? No! So, shut up. And this comes from a Christian who doesn’t judge others by their life choices and I support anyone’s happiness. Not my place, and its not yours either.”

“It’s about time! It’s 2013, and people really need to stop trying to force their beliefs and sexual preferences on other people. If two people of the same sex want to marry, let them and grant them the same rights straight, married couples have.”

“Finally!”

“The United States is now under the judgment of God.”

“Yep, pretty soon even one will be marrying their pets! Lord save us all!”

“This is so long overdue. People all deserve equal rights. Gays didn’t choose gayness anymore than straights chose to be straight. Let us move forward in peace.”

“It’s called ‘human rights.’ How this was even an issue to begin with I’ll never know.”

“I grew up in church, and my grandfather is a pastor. But the Bible also states that “though shalt not judge.” Seems to me anymore that people only want to take out of the Bible what they see fit. People cheat, and it’s forgiven. People lie, people steal, people covet. So many things, but these are so looked over because so many do it. Guess what? This should be the same. But people are so full of hate, and they just have to direct that hate on others, and this is where they choose. And it’s wrong. Pretty sure we should encourage marriage, because, honestly, marriages these days only end in divorce. That’s not what it should be. Let people get married. Let people be happy. It affects you not one bit, so why hold hate in your heart?”

“This isn’t a debate in our country anymore. The people in this nation who don’t support equal marriage rights are increasingly viewed as dumb bigots who are too pathetic to stay out of the business of others. The majority of Americans believe marriage rights should be equal — end of story. Stop placating the hateful and bigoted minority. Their viewpoint isn’t worth anybody’s time.”
