Management should share pain
As former chairman of the board of trustees of Uniontown Hospital, I, like many others, am saddened by the need for business closure and staff reductions as recently announced.
I now ask the current board of trustees to challenge hospital executive management to also “share the financial pain” of this downsizing.
As one who has personally experienced downsizing, I found it curious that management did not step up and reduce its costs, adhering to the “lead by example” theory. Since the hospital’s mission is to serve the community in a non-profit way, we as members of the community should expect such a gesture and be apprised of same.
