After 36 years, the Sun Porch Restaurant in Hopwood closed on Oct. 30. David Ruse and his wife, Jane, longtime owners of the restaurant along Route 40, decided to close the restaurant’s doors, putting an end to a family business that served the area for more than three decades.

“They will definitely be missed!”

“I’m saddened to hear this. My family and I loved it there. We will definitely miss them.”

“End of an era. Had many dinners there some 27 years ago.”

“Very sad to see it close.”

“We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there.”

“Our family will sure miss this place!”

“We always ate there when we came home to visit! Great food!”

“That was my first job. Very nice family.”

“I loved this place. It was my late Mom’s all-time favorite place. She always requested coming here for her birthdays. Best of luck to the family.”

“Thanks for everything and I still miss the hoagies.”

“Remember eating there a lot back in the mid and late ’60s. Loved their hamburgers and fries.”

“Went there for Sunday dinners for many years and my kids Holy Communion dinners were there. They will certainly be missed.”

“Nooooooooooooooo! But their sticky buns! What about the sticky buns? I can’t believe I’ll never eat another one.”

“Good for you! Time for R&R.”
