In response to: Four inmates caught on video trying to escape Fayette County Prison — News article, Dec. 5

“Funny how the cameras inside the jail operate when it’s convenient. Suicide? Cameras don’t work. Escape? Cameras are all over it.”

In response to: Wolf will fail — Letter to the editor, Nov. 30

“You seem to have two unrelated topics here. One of the best trends in local laws lately has been making people clean up after their dogs. If someone’s dog comes on your property, now, they have an obligation to pick up the mess. As to the return on your investment, when Uniontown was founded, Redstone Creek had a reputation for being a good trout stream. During my lifetime, it has been orange in color and it has smelled very, very bad. No self-respecting trout would go anywhere near it. The frackers are creating millions of gallons of toxins underground where the drinking water is supposed to come from. We may have jobs now, but we need to make sure we have jobs going on into the future, paid for by the frackers, until all of the mess they made has been cleaned up. If you can clean up after your dog, the frackers can clean up after their greed.”

“I cannot say that Wolf will be an affective governor with a legislature that is even more austerity-minded than the last. Nor was he my first choice of all the candidates that ran in the primaries. However, if one compares Rendell to Corbett it is easy to see that Rendell was the better. Corbett lost more jobs for the state than he helped to create with a Republican majority at his side. He left office after presenting a budget that was based on promises of magical future funds that will not and do not exist. He helped to lower state revenues by making Pa. the only state that does not collect a volume-produced tax from natural gas drilling. Further, he gave many tax cuts to industry and the rich that did not create many jobs if they created any. However, these tax cuts did reduce state revenues. Pa. went from being the ninth most financially stable state in the union to the 50th. Wolf will be met by a legislature with a large enough majority to override any veto Wolf signs, thus he will not be an effective governor.”
