Zimmerlink defends herself
Elected officials are often subject to persons saying or writing negative statements and negative opinions about them.
Everyone has a right to express their opinion verbally or written. However, when persons knowingly say or write false, inaccurate, misleading statements, that is a different story.
While most of the time this type of activity occurs before an election it also happens when, in my case, my political adversaries are feeling the heat and are being exposed for what they are.
Then comes the letters to the editor that go beyond opinion and instead are comprised of false and misleading statements.
Decisions I make as an elected official are not popular with fellow commissioners and some legislators, however, I was elected by the people and I will continue to make decisions, statements and votes for the right reasons not political reasons.
I will not succumb to what they want which is for me to go along to get along and to conduct county business behind closed doors or shut up the public and to go along with political hires, political board appointments, political contracts and any of their other political shenanigans.
While I am subject to their political retaliation through letters to the editor, lawsuits, investigations, false political ads aimed to harm my name and reputation, their tactics will not work because truth always prevails and because the good citizens of Fayette County are paying attention.
