Residents urged to sign petition

By Jerrie T. Mazza 2 min read

After attending the dog and pony Fayette County commissioner meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18, I am once again convinced that the voters of Fayette County must take back their county.

Not only was Fayette County Commissioner Al Ambrosini not being truthful throughout the meeting but especially about the documents that he had been withholding from Fayette County Commissioner Angela Zimmerlink.

He even tried to stifle the citizens who wished to express their thoughts to the commissioners. One quote from Mr. Ambrosini was, “I’m allowing you to speak.” Really? How do you allow people to speak? How dare you? To say that, especially to a war veteran is a shame.

Mr. Ambrosini’s attorney Mr. Ken Burkley, for whom a job was created, was very disrespectful to Mrs. Zimmerlink and to the assembled citizens, calling them, “Angela’s gallery.”

Also in controversy was the copies of the solicitor’s report that Mr. Burkley was paid thousands of dollars to produce. It only took him two years to do, and I believe that if not for the pressure from the taxpayers about this report, there would never have been a report.

No one except Mr. Ambrosini has seen said report, so who knows if there really is one. We know how untruthful Mr. Ambrosini can be, and I suspect that Mr. Burkley is cut from the same cloth.

Money flowed from the county bank accounts like a flooded river. The two commissioners have not heard of a consultant that they haven’t hired, be it for finances, the prison or any other topic you can think of.

People, enough is enough. It’s our county, our tax dollars and we should, no we must, have input as to how our county is governed.

We must tell the commissioners  that we can’t keep spending taxpayers’ money and piling up debt after debt on the county. You can send this message to the commissioners by signing the petition being circulated asking the election board to put a referendum about the construction of a new prison on the May primary ballot, saying yes or not to whether or not the people should be heard.

Please sign the petition and in May go to the polls and vote yes for the referendum.
