Three federal judges recently ruled that a ban against same-sex marriages was unconstitutional. The case now appears headed toward the U.S. Supreme Court. Do you think same-sex marriages will eventually be legalized? Are you personally for or against legalizing them?

“If same-sex marriage is OK, then why isn’t the relationship between two people in the same bloodline, like sisters, cousins, etc.? The old line was having kids between the two blood relatives was the problem. Two gay people cannot have kids either. I can see two sisters (single moms doing this). One might work, the other be the “stay at home mom.” Or two widows or even a brother and a sister.”

“As for calling it marriage, if they just called it something else (Colorado has civil unions) and let blood relatives create the partnership, then the vast majority of the population would be just fine with it. Marriage has been a religious tenant for 5,000+ years. Everyone wants the government to stay out of religion, but when votes are concerned, it’s OK to breach that separation.”

“Love is love. We are neither judge nor jury in this situation. Imagine if someone banned you from marrying your husband or wife? I’m sure you would have been heartbroken. All of you sitting on your religious thrones should be ashamed.”

“Gay marriage simply makes bigots uncomfortable. That doesn’t make it wrong.”

“Well, in 35 comments we have already hit murder, Hitler and incest. What did you expect?”

“If your argument against gay marriage is religious tradition, then your knowledge of the institution’s history is limited. Until very recently, marriage in Christian churches was a business arrangement between men and most often was not a choice for the woman.”

“It’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.”

“The Bible says that Christ came to fulfill the law, not rewrite it. We are always to live by God’s law, but because man is fallen and is unable to live up to the standard of God’s law, we needed a living sacrifice and a intercessory between us and God. The problem in society today is that people do not even try to live by high standards. It is easier to give in to man’s low standards and quit.”
