David Show, the new chairman of the Fayette County Republican Party, is promising to be more aggressive in challenging the county’s Democratic Party for political control of the county. Do you think Fayette County will ever be dominated by Republicans? Do you think that would be a good thing or a bad thing?“Show couldn’t be any worse than the good ole boys who have dominated this county and run it with their own agenda.”

“It’s not about who is more aggressive. It’s about who takes more campaign donations to make shiny signs that make you vote. That’s how it works most of the time, right? It doesn’t matter who is running the place. Not many politicians actually care if you live or die, and the ones who do are chased out of office or constantly voted down by the others.”

“Until the people who blindly vote straight-party Democrat just like they’ve done since the fifties are all gone, the Republicans don’t have much chance.”

“The party names should be removed from the polls, leaving only the candidate names. This would force the voter to do their own homework. That would be a start.”

“The party affiliation doesn’t matter in Fayette County. The same people with the same last names will always have a stranglehold on this area in education, the justice system, and everything in general.”

“The Republican Party is using every trick they can think of to get an advantage. Remember when our district was “redistricted” a few years ago? The blue county suddenly turned red although the Democrats outnumber the Republicans. What about the push to require ID when voting? Listen to the news, and you hear some people are required to travel/stand in line for hours to vote.”

“The Republican Party is not for the working class or the poor. Want to talk about entitlements they frown on? I consider their salary and related perks entitlements, especially when they don’t work a 52-week year as most of us do. Even with the so-called current dilemma with immigrant children Congress is planning on taking their anticipated vacation. No pressing issues for them there!”

“If that ever happens, it will be a sad day in Fayette County.”
