Words from the web

In a guest column Tuesday on page A-4, Pastor John Thomas of the Calvary Chapel in Fredericktown said that gay marriage will eventually destroy the United States. He said homosexuality is against God’s teachings, calling it “unnatural.” Do you agree or disagree with Pastor Thomas?

“I do believe that homosexuality is condemned in the Bible. However, I don’t believe the Bible to be true nor do I think it will destroy the USA. If any God would judge our nation, I’d be more worried about how we kill children in other countries with drone strikes.”

“If anything, we need population control and homosexuality is actually part of the solution from a resource perspective.”

“If this guy had an intelligent thought in his head he wouldn’t be a pastor in Fredericktown. The only thing he knows is that if he says garbage like this, he will get noticed and that the local bigots will click on the donations button on his site so he can buy more fancy shirts for church on Sunday.”

Sins? In the NT, where homosexuality is mentioned (even if you disagree with most biblical scholars who say that isn’t what is being talked about) it is mentioned as being a sin on the same level as – arrogance, gluttony, boasting, pride, being wise in your own eyes.”

“It’s mentioned in Romans 1. But again, why are we justifying or condemning with the Bible?”

“Not everyone believes in the Bible.”
