Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central’s Daily Show, said in a recent interview that he felt there were more important things former president George W. Bush could be doing with his time than painting a “still life,” comparing him to former president Jimmy Carter who, in Stewart’s words, is “out in Africa, like, pulling Guinea worms out of children’s feet trying to cure them.” Do you think this is an unfair criticism of Bush and that he deserves to spend his time relaxing after his presidency? Or do you think he should, like Carter, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton before him, serve as an ambassador to the presidency and promote U.S. diplomacy and goodwill around the world?

“Stewart is right! Jimmy Carter is a true humanitarian. Bush doesn’t even know what that word means.”

“Bush can do whatever the hell he likes with his retirement. The media needs to stop inventing news by interviewing someone who is doing nothing. The news should be following Carter instead.”

“I don’t take Jon Stewart seriously, nobody should. The man did his time, let him be.”

“Bush was incapable of being president. What makes you think he’s capable of being an ambassador to the presidency and promote U.S. diplomacy and goodwill around the world? He wasn’t even capable of promoting diplomacy and goodwill when he was president. The only things he promoted were war, poverty and pollution. We’re all better off if he sticks to his hobby of painting. He can’t screw things up for the rest of us if he stays busy doing that instead.”

“He can do what he wants. He was never an intellectual like Carter and Clinton. So it’s best he stays away.”

“Stewart is right on the spot.”

“Jon Stewart is a comedian”

“Carter has been an exemplary former U.S. president. He is a generous and wise man. George W. is a kid born with a silver spoon in his mouth — baby Huey.”

“Why don’t people research things before speaking about them? George W. Bush is very active in humanitarian issues. He’s been involved in the AIDS epidemic in Africa for years as well as Wounded Warriors. Just because some left-winged celebrity says something doesn’t mean he knows what he’s talking about.”

“Not unfair at all! He should be doing something useful!”
