Pigeon shoots targeted
Thankfully, pigeon shoots are prohibited in most states, but in provincial Pennsylvania, where we cling to guns, this cowardly and repugnant pursuit continues thanks in large part to the efforts of the vile National Rifle Association (NRA), the firearms manufacturers’ best friend and an organization which our legislative “leaders” dare not cross.
The NRA asserts, as it always does when any sensible regulation of guns is proposed, that the Second Amendment must not be limited, and it has adopted an expansive view of it which would serve to allow virtually any individual to amass an arsenal of lethal weapons with no assurance that they know how to use them safely or that the gun owner is mentally stable.
One does not have to be a liberal fanatic to recognize the repugnant nature of using defenseless living creatures for target practice and the reasonable person must wonder what type of thrill a gun-toting enthusiast can derive from the “sport.”
I can envision a “Twilight Zone” episode in which the hunted become the hunters, in which the animals that are pursued by hunters turn the tables and pursue their human oppressors. It is a scenario with significant appeal.
