A majority of Americans believe businesses should not be allowed to refuse services based on their religious beliefs in the wake of controversies in Indiana and Arkansas over gay rights and religious freedom, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found on Thursday. The poll, conducted April 6 to 8, also found that 52 percent of Americans support allowing same-sex couples to marry, far more than the 32 percent who oppose it. Do you think such support is a good thing for the country, or do you think it’s just another sign that we’re headed for hell in a handbasket?

“The USA has far greater challenges it should be working to address than who a person loves in his/her private time.”

“We are headed down a destructive and dangerous path; and not only with this issue, but many others. Calling two homosexuals ‘married’ is invalid. It can be called a government union or whatever, but it is not a marriage. Marriage came from God. He was clear, one man and one woman.”

“Oh, yeah, because rampant cheating, divorce, etc. from those “true” marriages is clearly not ruining the ‘sanctity’ of marriage.”

“It’s also wrong for priests to do what they do but, hey, it’s America.”

“My vote — hell in a hand basket!”

“You know, I don’t think God was as clear as he could have been. The Episcopelians welcome gay parishioners and perform same-sex marriages. They use the same Bible as Catholics. So, the word of God may be up for interpretation.”

“The problem then is not God and how clear he could be, but humans who like to twist things to their own wants. That’s the problem. People are teaching whatever they want. The Bible itself is very clear. Ultimately, God is the one who judges in the end, not some religion or any one man.”

“Actually the Bible is not very clear, and there is a ton of things in there that “Christians” choose to forget about. Things that aren’t exactly about loving thy neighbor.”

“According to the book of Kings, Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines… so I guess marriage is between 1 man and 700 women and 300 “friends with benefits.” Or, the father of all Judeo-Christian religions, Abraham, he was a bit more restrained, he only had three women in his life he was sleeping with.

Also, if you choose to quote Old Testament law, you should never eat cheeseburgers (Exodus 23:19, mixing of meat and dairy), or trim your sideburns/beard (Leviticus 19:27).”

“The “Christians” won’t recognize how you just completely exposed them for there hypocrisy. You can’t un-brainwash them. All they are going to do is repeat what they’ve already said, just louder. But you have essentially said all that needs to be said.”

“You own the business. You decide who to serve!

“Not really sure about the Reuters poll. I can’t see that many idiots believing in same-sex marriage but then again they are the same idiots who probably voted again for Hussein.”

“Headed to Hell!
