No help needed

1 min read

There is an old saying “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Young people may not know this saying but “old timers” sure do and what it means. Now there appears to be an agreement soon on a new budget for Pennsylvania. I was discussing this with my wife, and I told her prepare to do some juggling on the payment of our bills and be ready to pay more.

As we read the little information that has been released our sales tax is going to increase, but there’s no increase in the gas tax for the Marcellus shale drillers. Another old saying is “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.”  If this bill passes and there is a reduction in the property tax, mark your calendars to see how long before the property tax begins to rise, and we are paying more in sales tax and whatever else they manage to insert in the new budget bill. Personally, I don’t want any more help from the government. I can’t afford it.
