Republican presidential candidate and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said in an interview Wednesday that “people need to work longer hours” to help grow the economy. According to ABC News, Bush was asked a question about tax reform during an interview live streamed on Periscope, and said he believes the U.S. can achieve 4 percent growth but people must work longer hours to achieve that goal.
“Bush is a fool. I think he has had his nose a little too deep in a John Keynes book.”
“Interesting, coming from a man who has never worked a single day in his entire life. The problem isn’t workers, it’s employers.”
“I work over 50 hours a week now for low pay! When is the government going to do something about it? Most of our problem is the government, especially the GOP. He is a bit out of touch! How about all the extreme rich people cough up 4 percent of their cash?”
“Those who are living on our tax dollars and very capable of working should be out getting jobs.”
“I think he is very far removed from the real world!”
“Bush is wrong. I don’t think people working longer will solve the problem. To generate more tax revenue, more jobs need to be created so that people can be employed to pay into the system.”
“Longer hours, really. Tell that to the men and women who work 60, 70 and 80 hours a week to keep food on their tables and a decent roof over their families’ heads all the while losing precious time with their little ones.”
“What a stupid thing to say. Most people are already working long hours.”
“I wonder what plantation owner diary he got that quote from.”
“Oh so he doesn’t live off family fortunes? Wonder when the last time he worked a 15-hour day? My guess is probably never.”
“I think we should get paid less and taxed more while we’re at it.”
“Someone above mentioned out of touch with real world. Name a politician. Please. Clinton? Obama? Kerry? Yes Bush. But please you know it’s not one party. The Herald-Standard would never call out a Democrat. Talk about bias.”
“Typical stupid Bush comment.”
“If more people worked at least 8 hours, then the problem would be solved.”
