Ex-soldier displays real courage

2 min read

A while back I was blessed with the opportunity to run in the U.S. Army Ten Miler. This event is held every year as a show of support for our brave men and women in the armed services. The race begins and ends at the U.S. Pentagon and tours most of the National Mall and related sites.

Somewhere around mile eight, the road turns into an uphill climb as the route takes you over the Potomac River. As I was running this incline, I noticed a young soldier ahead holding onto the guardrail. He seemed totally exhausted as a group of his fellow comrades were encouraging him to continue on.

I don’t know whether or not he heard me as I shouted out some positive words as I went by, but by the look of determination on his face, there’s no doubt in my mind he was able to finish the race. Oh! I forgot to mention, this young man didn’t have any legs. He was a Wounded Warrior and was running on a pair of prosthetic blades.

This morning I put on the local news as I was getting ready for my morning run. There it was, Bruce Jenner being given an award for ‘courage.” He was wearing a dress!

God, please help America!
