Connellsville praised

2 min read

Recently, the members of the Connellsville Business and Professional Women’s Club attended the 95th annual convention of the Pennsylvania Federation of Business and Professional Women in Johnstown.

At the convention, incoming State President Emily Holgash announced her theme for the year “Let Your Light Shine.”  Her choice of theme struck a particular chord with me having witnessed a dynamic group of individuals and community organizations coming together to make a difference in our community.

Many of Connellsville’s citizens have chosen to let their light shine by volunteering to make our city the best it can be. Congratulations to the Garden Club on another successful Geranium Festival; The Fayette County Cultural Trust for successful Mum Festivals and “It’s a Connellsville Christmas” events; and the Connellsville Rec Board for giving the children of our community beautiful, clean and inviting places to play and enjoy the outdoors.

The Historical Society keeps the rich heritage of our community alive with the Stewarts Crossing; Project Talent is helping our children to “Let Their Light Shine” by getting them involved in theater and musical performances; and the Connellsville Community Center offers performances at the newly renovated Porter Theater.

To these volunteers, community groups and businessman of the area such as Michael Edwards, Dan Cocks, Tuffy Shallenberger, Jimmy Mongell, Ethan Keedy and others, thank you for letting your light shine on our community.

With these thanks, also comes encouragement for them to keep up the great work. To the members of the community who have not yet contributed to a renewed Connellsville, I challenge you to “Let Your Light Shine” and get involved in bringing our city back to a community in which we can all be proud to live.
