The national president of the Boy Scouts of America said last week that the organization’s longstanding ban on participation by openly gay adults must be lifted or the group will face costly lawsuits, possibly bankrupting the organization. The BSA had decided in 2014 to allow openly gay scouts but not gay adults as leaders. Do you think gay leaders should be allowed in the Boy Scouts or do you think they should continue to be barred? Would you be OK with your son having a gay Boy Scout leader?

“Every parent, especially Christians should have taken their children out of Scouts a long time ago.”

“Why must one express their sexual desires in anything in any public situation. Did the application ask you if you were gay or straight? If you choose to express your sex life then anyone must face the consequences. Sex should be a private matter. We made it a problem when some had to tell the public they were gay. Do heterosexuals make a big deal about their sexuality? No they keep it private as it should be.”

“Gay does not mean pedophile! Pedophiles are sick, demented individuals. Also your child is either gay or straight. No one is going to influence them either way on that issue. What someone does in their bedroom has nothing to do with their job, their service, etc. I can’t understand why people think they have a right to tell others who they can and can not love. Don’t go spewing all those bible verses at me either. I’m not interested. Our children are in Scouts to learn to work well with others, have new experiences and learn the brotherhood. End of story.”

“If a man prefers men I would feel safer leaving my son with a straight man. It’d actually be alright for a gay man to lead a group of Girl Scouts or a lesbian to lead the Boy Scouts. The Scouts aren’t against gays. This isn’t 1960 for gay people. No one hates gays. Everyone wants to start a movement. Be gay, get over it and stop trying to fight for your right to sleep with my son in a tent.”

“As an Eagle Scout myself I’m pretty sure that scoutmasters are not allowed to sleep in the same tent as their Scouts.”
