Coal miner’s daughter recalls growing up

1 min read

I’m a coal miner’s daughter. My dad’s nickname is Fiki. If my mom needed the car we took daddy to work and when we picked him up at midnight, he was all black and washed in the washtub.

The miners worked hard to start the union, so most of the time we had to depend on the Polish Cub for dried eggs, milk and  processed cheese. My dad hunted, fished and picked mushrooms. We were happy because we got to play.

I know a lot of coal miners want the coal mines to come back. They voted for the Trump empire which I liken to the fall of the Roman empire.
