Remember the reason for the season
The Christmas season is upon us.
People are beginning to get into the mood. They are starting to look around for gifts for their family and friends. A lot of people already have put gifts on layaway for their children. Stores have their place decorated for Christmas. It is a special time of year.
What would make this Christmas very special would be for our local businesses to play more Christmas songs about the birth of the Christ child. The other ones are fine, but we need to remind ourselves more about the greatest gift that we all receive at Christmas. It would also be nice for all employees to wish “Merry Christmas” to their customers, if they desire to.
I think we all would agree that the true meaning of Christmas has been placed on the back burner and everything has become materialistic and commercial. I also hear some people saying that this time of year is nothing but a burden.
To those people I say, wait ’till you are in your home on Christmas morning and you look at your children’s faces and their eyes are sparkling and their faces light up like a candle, or other members of your family and friends with a happy smile after they receive a gift that you looked for days to find. Remember how you feel at that time and don’t forget it. It is all worth it.
Come on everybody, even if it is just for the holiday, try smiling at people (some people might think you are strange), but do it anyway. Say “hi,” or “have a nice day.” Try being nice to the people you come in contact with, wish them a “Very Merry Christmas” and most importantly; take time to thank God for the birth of His son, Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas and may God bless you and your family.
