Christians are voting for Donald Trump
I am writing in response to James Sloan’s letter to the editor printed Sept. 7. I have always appreciated his thoughts and enjoyed reading his previous letters to the editor.
However, when his letter last week suggested anyone voting for Donald Trump is lying to themselves that they are a Christian, I knew I must respond. I am a person who went to church all my life, but I did not become a Christian until I was in my 40s. By that I mean, it was not until that time that I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart as lord and savior. I want to serve him the rest of my life and try to live so that all my actions bring him honor and glory. I know voting for our president is one of our Christian duties.
This year it will be difficult, however, as both candidates have questionable backgrounds abd less than ideal qualities to hold such a privileged office. Donald Trump is a braggart; Hillary Clinton a liar. I believe the two comments Mr. Sloan refers to in his letter, were more of Donald Trump boasting than being a murderer. Of course no murder has taken place; these were mere words. However, Hillary Clinton assures women with her words in her speeches and with her actions in her voting history, that she will always fight for their right to choose to murder their unborn babies. There are over one million unborn babies murdered every year in the United States. Trump is against this legal murder. He is pro-Life and has already provided the names of the 11 judges he would pick from as Supreme Court nominees. With a more conservative Supreme Court, Roe vs. Wade could be overturned, and the daily murdering of our innocent babies would finally end. I am 73 years old now and with each passing year I come closer to leaving this world. When I am asked by God what I did to stop millions of unborn babies from being murdered, I will have an answer. Along with going to pro-Life rallies and donating to pregnancy crisis centers, the most important thing I did was vote for pro-life candidates. So, yes, I will be voting for Donald Trump and yes I still call myself a Christian.
