Trump better than ‘well-educated’ let on
Here I sit, a poor country boy from Grindstone and just finished having a discussion with a well-educated man. Now, he said that Trump is stupid, racist and a misogynist. Wow. That is a mouthful for a country boy.
I was never a big fan of Trump. But it is about time that we put party aside and get something done. I never even watched one episode of “The Apprentice.” I think that is the name of the show he was on. Hell, I even watched Ron Reagan in the monkey movies.
But considering the alternative, I had to vote for him. Now let me try to address my well-educated friend.
Let me start in reverse order.
Misogynist is a person who dislikes, despises or is strongly prejudiced against women. Boy, that doesn’t sound like Trump. Have you seen his wife! That is only part of it. He has placed women in power over men in many of his enterprises. Now has he spoken poorly about women who couldn’t do the job? I guess so. I don’t know for sure. Has he said quite a few less than nice things about women. Yes he has, but so have most men. It’s in our nature. I try not to use those remarks, but I would imagine at some time in my life I have. But, I am a happily married man that has a lovely daughter and granddaughter and great granddaughters.
Racist. Trump is a builder, and the buildings that he built are not built by him alone. Do you think that a union that he had to deal with could stand for a racist. A union is for the workers of any color or race. Now do you think that a union would work for a man that was a racist?
Stupid? I think not. A man that is a billionaire got there by not being stupid. He has failed on some of his tries. But it took Edison 1,000 tries at a light bulb before he got it right. To be stupid like this man, I wish I was.
Sure he is crude and fails to speak clearly. But I did not vote for an English teacher. I voted for a man that according to the New York Times refurbished the Central Park-skating rink two and a half months ahead of his own speedy six-month schedule and $750,000 below his own projected $3 million budget, having taken over the project after the city spent six years and $12 million unsuccessfully trying to get the job done.
That is the man I voted for. It is about time that we put party aside and get something done.
