Identity politics will leave us divided
How things appear to be on the surface are not always an accurate reflection of their real nature. Identity politics operates under the radar of rational thought.
Huge divisions are being propagated in our cultural landscape. These separations are about gender, race, age, and many other things. Men and women, black and white, and young and old people are pitted against each other. There are issues to be addressed about these divides; but, the solutions need to come reasonably and rationally.
Why have we seemed to have come to mass hysteria? Under the disguise of righting a wrong, politics has gotten involved. In my opinion, the root motive has become political gain. Candidates and political parties rally support by making groups of people feel better than or more disenfranchised than they are. It is the age-old strategy of divide and conquer. Men and women were never created to compete with each other. In case you haven’t noticed, we need each other.
Political parties through identity politics will get votes and win elections; yet, the communities they lead will be broken, and I fear permanently divided.
