We need to kick Trump out in 2021

2 min read

The stage is being set for a presidential pardon for multiple felon and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Donald Trump has told us that he feels badly about his pal’s plight: being sentenced to prison for his extensive crime spree, and he considers those like Manafort, who refuse to cooperate with law enforcement, to have “guts” while those who aid the prosecution to be weak, classifying them like any crime syndicate boss would as “rats”.

Trump told us that he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and not lose any support from his base, and he is right. With these individuals, Trump is more than “the Teflon president”: he is bulletproof. Why not, then, let off scot-free someone who engaged in conspiracy, money laundering, theft, lying, and witness tampering, turning justice on its head?

With any other president, aberrant actions taken and statements made by Donald Trump would be appalling and disqualifying to serving as president. Since his reign began, though, we have accepted and mainstreamed that which is abnormal and deviant. We may never be able to undo the damage even if our long national nightmare should end with the inauguration of a Democratic president on January 20, 2021.
