Where is the local GOP leadership?

2 min read

After the vile hate filled dartboard incident by the Fayette County Republican party at the county fair in July, we have not heard back from but one GOP elected official. Just recently the Fayette County Republican Party Facebook page posted another intimidation picture of the 16-year-old climate activist with a demeaning statement, both of which were removed once it gained national attention.

The leaders of the Fayette County Republican Party, elected officials and members continue to demonstrate this vile intimidation method which resulted in nothing more than a wake up call for all of us.

The current Republican commissioner candidates, Dave Lohr and Scott Dunn have chosen along with state Representative Warner, state Senator Pat Stephano, US Congressman Guy Reschenthaler and other elected GOP officials, to remain silent, demonstrating their lack of leadership.

This silence is nothing more than an acceptance of the Fayette County GOP in use of vile, hate-filled intimidation methods reflective upon hite supremacy and a moral acceptance of hate speech and a mob mentality. What happened to the day when we elected officials based upon their moral character and rejection of all hate speech intimidation methods.

We the people, are in need of leaders who care about us, leaders who will stand up for moral values. We are in need of leaders who care about we the people and not about their own agenda. Until we hear from Lohr, Dunn, Warner, Stefano and Reschenthaler, we have no choice but to realize their true character and morality is not reflective of ours. It is time for a change in the leadership of this county!

As their silence is acceptance, are we to assume that they are lock step in line with neo-Nazi intimidation or is their reluctance to take the moral high ground an indication of fear of intimidation from their own party leadership?

Fayette County, we are better than that. We expect better than that. It is time to place the past behind us, stand up on our own two feet and bravely walk into the future!
