LETTER: The end of greatness?
Having just read U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler’s op-ed in the May 25 edition, it was the last bit of motivation I needed to say something about the insanity permeating this administration.
Boasting about the few and far between bright spots does not even begin to cover up the unfathomable amount of unscrupulous activity occurring every day in this administration. Proudly and wholeheartedly supporting the “big bill” – I can’t even bring myself to use its name – claiming how great it is for the country. Touting a border security investment that includes $46.5 billion to build the wall that was promised by Donald Trump during his last term to be paid for by Mexico.
Prosperous tax cuts? He’s right: They’re very prosperous for Trump’s billionaire friends and no one else. This bill is nothing but a blatant reverse Robin Hood scheme – steal from the poor and give to the rich.
And after firing tens of thousands of government employees, with Elon Musk thoroughly enjoying it, even celebrating it, along with numerous other ridiculous actions aimed at reducing wasteful spending, we have to pay for a dictator-like military parade that no one else wants, and also pay millions to modify a luxury jet we didn’t need or want.
By the way, that bill they’re bragging about will add an estimated $3 trillion to our deficit. Why not pat yourselves on the back for that?
Page after page could be written about the craziness going on in Washington, D.C., and the spineless Congress letting it happen.
Make America great again? More like the beginning of the end of our greatness.
