Softball success has been commonplace for the Herald-Standard coverage area in recent years and 2019 continued that trend as local teams accumulated a bushel full of trophies with one PIAA champion, a state runner-up, two WPIAL champions and three district runner-ups to go along with three section winners.

Rainy weather on Thursday forced the PIAA Class AA softball final to be moved yet again, with Frazier now facing Brandywine Heights Friday at 6:30 p.m.

After Thursday’s PIAA Class AA state softball quarterfinal, Frazier’s Logan Hartman looked like a pitcher who had just thrown a complete game in leading the Lady Commodores to a 4-3 win over Chartiers-Houston in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals.

A quick turnaround may have done Frazier good as it put Friday's WPIAL final loss to Laurel behind it and bashed out 15 hits in a 9-6 win over Marion Center in the first round of the PIAA softball playoffs Monday at Mount Aloysius College.

Frazier and Chartiers-Houston had played a pair of low-scoring games in splitting their two regular-season meetings but the rubber match in the WPIAL semifinals was a different story as the Lady Commodores rolled to a 10-3 victory.
