Dawsons celebrate 50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. William H. Dawson of Uniontown are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today. They were married April 20, 1953, in Cumberland, Md., by the Rev. E.L. Porter of the Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Dawson is the former Geraldine Varndell.
Mr. Dawson is retired from the auto body business and currently works weekends as a security guard at the Holiday Inn in Uniontown.
Mrs. Dawson was employed at Shop N’ Save (Connellsville Street) and Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Hopwood. She is a homemaker and is well known for her baking abilities.
The anniversary was celebrated April 5 at Meloni’s Restaurant with 75 close friends and family in attendance. The celebration continued April 6 at the Dawson home.
They are the parents of five children, William H. Jr. of Washington, Pa., Robert and his wife Lynette, of Paola, Kan., Carolyn and husband, Robert Davey, of Upper Middletown, Craig and his wife Mary Jo, of New Kensington, and Cynthia (Cindy) and husband, Robert Yeagley, of Uniontown.
Grandchildren are William H. Dawson III, Ian Dawson, Emily Dawson, Nicholas Dawson, Brandy Dawson, Kimberly Davey, Allison, Laura and Andrew Yeagley.
