Brestenskys celebrate 40th anniversary
Dr. and Mrs. Dennis F. Brestensky of Hopwood are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today. They were married Aug. 17, 1963, at St. Peter’s Church in Tarentum.
Mrs. Brestensky is the former Judith Reesman, daughter of the late Howard Reesman and Stella Marsico. She is a registered nurse and director of clinical staff development at Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice where she has been employed for 23 years.
Dr. Brestensky is a professor of English at Penn State Fayette Campus. He has been on the faculty there since 1965. He has hosted an annual Shakespeare Festival since 1972 and co-founded the Coal and Coke Heritage at Fayette Campus. He is the son of the late Frank and Anne Brestensky.
They are the parents of three children, Beth Casteel and her husband, Todd, of Uniontown; Dennis Brestensky and his wife, Lisa, of Pittsburgh; and Matthew Brestensky and his wife, Tammy of Hopwood. They have eight grandchildren, Amanda Elizabeth, Anna Hope and Joseph Aaron Casteel; Alycia Louise, Matthew Robert and Nathan Ryan Brestensky; and Michael Steven Brestensky.
Mr. and Mrs. Brestensky renewed their marriage vows during a Mass celebrated in Medjugorje, Bosnia-Hercegovina in April.
They are active members of St. John the Evangelist Church in Uniontown.
They celebrated their anniversary at a Mass at St. John Church followed by a family dinner.
