Dr., Mrs. Smodic mark 50th anniversary
Dr. William J. and Nancy Smodic of Wilmington, N.C., and formerly of Uniontown, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a week-long Caribbean cruise with their family. They were married on June 6, 1953.
They have three sons, William Joseph and wife Kim, Raleigh, N.C., Daniel Ray and wife Carol, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Robert Allan and wife, Nola, Nashville, Tenn.
They have one granddaughter, and five grandsons.
The Smodics moved to Wilmington in December 1989.
Dr. Smodic, born and raised in Gates, graduated from German Township High School.
Prior to retirement, he served as superintendent of the Uniontown Area School District from 1980 to 1988.
