Guritzas celebrate 50th anniversary
Peter and Edna Guritza of Greensboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 1. They were married on May 1, 1954 at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in Bobtown, by the Rev. Louis Minewiser.
Mr. Guritza retired in 1991 from the former Duquesne Light Co. at Greensboro with 44 years of service.
He also served with the U.S. Army at Bremerhaven, Germany.
Mrs. Guritza is the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Cech of Bobtown. She is a homemaker.
They are the parents of two sons, Michael and his wife Sandi of Greensboro; and Peter Jr. of Richmond, Va.
They are the grandparents of Brian and Kristi Guritza of Greensboro and one deceased infant grandson, David Michael Guritza.
A Mass for their intentions was celebrated by their pastor, the Rev. Lawrence Holpp on May 1 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Greensboro where he gave a blessing, blessed their golden anniversary rings and witnessed exchange of rings.
Members of the original wedding party, Mrs. Guritza’s sister, Mary Juracko and Mr. Guritza’s brother, Steve Guritza, were their attendants again. A family dinner was held on May 2 at Becker’s Shady Side Inn in Uniontown.
