Mr. and Mrs. McCune honored on 50th anniversary
Kenneth and Virginia (Burke) McCune celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently. They were married on July 1, 1955, at the Free Methodist Church campgrounds, Fairchance.
The bride’s father, the Rev. Henry Burke, officiated.
Mrs. McCune is a homemaker. Mr. McCune was employed with U.S. Steel Mining Co., Maple Creek Mine, Hazel Kirk, for 25 years. He retired in 1990.
They are the parents of two sons, Kenneth G. McCune Jr. and Murray M. McCune, both of the local area.
A dinner was held July 2 at the Jewish Community Center in Uniontown for 140 relatives and friends. Following dinner, a skit was performed, an “Ozark hillbilly” wedding theme using the celebrant’s names. Mrs. McCune was given a “Gold Medal,” award, a 5-pound bag of Gold Medal flour.
Their sons presented them a gift, a vacation trip to Sugar Creek, Ohio.
Mr. McCune’s father, Charles O. McCune, who is 96, attended the celebration.
