Mr., Mrs. Hopwood observe 60th anniversary
Jim and Jean Hopwood of Uniontown recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They exchanged wedding vows July 31, 1946, at the Great Bethel Baptist Parsonage. The Rev. Carey Osborne officiated.
The couple are the parents of four children, Diane Palaisa of Hopwood, Susan Hopwood of Morgantown, W.Va., Rebecca Hopwood of Chesapeake Beach, Md., and James Hopwood and his wife Brenda of Springfield, Mo.
They have eight grandchildren, Andrea Palasia Abraham and husband Joe of Hopwood, Jacqueline Palaisa and husband Steve Daniel of Sicily, Carrie Tajc of Hopwood, Rachael Fronczek of New York City, Austin Fronczek of Chesapeake Beach, Md., Grant Hopwood of Springfield, Mo., Vanessa Hopwood of St. Louis, Mo., and two step-grandchildren Brandon Bennett and wife Jessica, and Krissi Kilburn and husband Corey, all of Springfield, Mo.
They have five great grandchildren Abigail and Jeremy Abraham, Trevor and Chase Daniel, and Annika Tajc.
Mrs. Hopwood is the former Dorothy Jean Coates, daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Eleanor Nesmith Coates. She was employed by Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania and is a volunteer for the Fayette County Blind Association.
Mr. Hopwood is the son of the late John and Pearl Dennis Hopwood. He is a retired engineer from Bell Telephone, member of the Lions Club, and a former volunteer for the Blind Association. Both are active members of Central Christian Church.
A party, hosted by their children and attended by family and friends, was held in their honor.
