Mr. and Mrs. Tate observe 50th anniversary
Jerry and Sondra Tate of Haydentown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 8. Mr. Tate and the former Sondra Lilley were married on Dec. 8, 1956, in Cumberland, Md., by the Rev. Woods.
Mr. Tate is retired from Consolidated Coal Co. after 29 years as a coal miner, last working at the Dilworth Mine upon retirement.
Mrs. Tate was employed at the Albert Gallatin School District for 26 1/2 years and was a cafeteria manager at the D. Ferd Swaney Elementary School before retiring.
They were honored at a surprise celebration held at the Haydentown Community Center attended by family and friends and hosted by their two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Donald Hartman Jr. and Cindy and Gerry Dawson of Haydentown. They have four grandchildren, Mandy Dawson Lacey, Amber Hartman Glisan, Zack Dawson and Shawna Hartman Seese. They have six great-grandchildren, Harlie, Ariel, Abbey, Caden, Jake and Mya.
