Fayette County issues burn ban

The Fayette County commissioners issued a burning ban for the entire county through Nov. 21. According to the resolution, commissioners along with volunteer fire departments and the state Bureau of Forestry made the decision to enact the ban, which precludes burning garbage, leaves, grass and twigs outside. Campfires in campgrounds are allowed in fire rings as long as all flammable material has been removed for a radius of five feet, according to the ban. Failure to adhere to the ban is a summary offense that comes with an initial fine of $100.
