Ask Carley: Couple needn’t fret about this wedding-guest detail
Q. We have a lot of out-of-town guests visiting for our wedding, and I feel like a poor host for not planning anything the day after (a Sunday), but we leave at 6 a.m. for our honeymoon. Should I be more on top of this?
A. This is actually a wedding detail you don’t have to worry so much about. You’re taking care of the wedding, and likely a rehearsal dinner the night before, so guests should expect to be on their own after the reception.
Since you’re leaving so early the next day, see if your parents (or maybe his) are interested in gathering everyone for a post-wedding brunch at the hotel, or somewhere nearby. People tend to naturally gather in smaller groups, even without a formal invitation.
If you feel like you should be doing more, leave a little map in the welcome bags with highlighted points of interest.
