AL-ANON FAMILY GROUPS will hold their Uniontown meetings at 8 p.m. Wednesdays in the basement of the Trinity Church located at the corner of Fayette and Morgantown streets. The Connellsville meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Fridays at the Christian Church on Pittsburgh Street. The meetings are for people having problems with someone’s drinking. THE STATE THEATRE CENTER FOR THE ARTS will host “Cookies for a Cause” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Guests are invited to enjoy “Home for the Holidays” festivities at 5:30 p.m. with a parade featuring Santa. At 6 p.m. people can purchase cookies while supporting local organizations. All cookies will be sold by the dozen, and prices will vary.

FLENNIKEN PUBLIC LIBRARY is offering a “Geek Workshop” from 6 to 7 p.m. today to learn more about e-readers or try a Nook HD, Kindle Fire or Sony eReader. The workshops are a time for people to bring in their gadgets and learn how to operate them by spending one-on-one time with a librarian. For more information about the workshop or the library, call 724-966-5263 or stop by the library located at 102 East George St., Carmichaels from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday or 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

GREAT MEADOWS CHAPTER, DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION will have an old-fashioned Christmas tea at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of Leah Ringer, honorary regent, at 89 Ruble Road, Uniontown. Members will present Christmas stories, poems, readings and songs. The event will be coordinated by Vice-Regent Marilyn Weaver. Donations will be collected for the veterans at Aspinwall.

NORTH UNION VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS POST 8543 will hold a Pearl Harbor Day Memorial at 10 a.m. Friday. For more information, call 724-438-8543.

UNIONTOWN SONS OF ITALY is serving eat-in or takeout pasta dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month. The menu includes spaghetti, meat or cheese ravioli and linguini with red or white clam sauce. Dinners include meatballs, salad and bread. Containers of sauce can also be purchased. Orders can be called ahead at 724-439-2290. The Sons of Italy is located on Route 119, three miles north of Uniontown.
