The family fun area at the Fayette County Fair full of exciting events
A circus, a one-man band, pig racing and Bengal tigers are just some of the interesting acts that will be on hand in the family fun area of the Fayette County Fair this year.
Bill Jackson, president of the Fayette County Fair Board, said they brought Circus Dubois to the fair last year, but on a limited engagement.
He added that they really liked the unique aspect that Michael Dubois, Viktoria Grimmy and their troupe offered, and worked to get them back full time for this year.
Circus Dubois is an action packed show featuring ariel, whips, juggling, slackwire and contortion.
The circus will have daily performances at 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. show added on Saturday and Sunday. There will be no 4:30 p.m. show on July 26.
Wondering around daily throughout the fairgrounds, will be Marc Dobson – The One Man Band – a life-long entertainer and musician who plays nine different instruments at once.
Sometimes Dobson performs with his son, Cavin, who plays guitar and a 204-foot, PVC pipe instrument that has 33 different tubes.
The repertoire aims at songs every age should recognize covering the 60’s thru to today with a mix of Rock, Country, Pop and more. With improv comedic antics, no two shows are alike which maybe is why Marc has been performing yearly at many fairs since the inception of his One Man Band.
Performances in the family fun area will take place July 27-29 at 3:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. He will be strolling around the fair at other times.
Pigs Gone Wild, a yearly favorite, will once again bring their racing pigs show to the fair. This year’s theme is Jurassic Pork.
Pig races will be held daily at 4:15 p.m., 6:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. A 3 p.m. show will be added on Saturday and Sunday and there will be no 4:15 p.m. show on July 26.
Danny Grant’s Cowboy Circus is a new addition this year and features family-friendly comedy, cowboy tricks, juggling, guitar pickin’, audience participation and more.
Grant will perform July 30 to Aug. 4 at 3:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the family fun area. He will also be strolling throughout the fair at other times during the week.
The fair wouldn’t be complete without some exotic animals and Brunon Blaszak will fill that void with some Bengal Tigers.
Blaszak is a third generation tiger trainer, and has been performing with Sumatran, Siberian and Bengal Tigers his entire life. He and his mother, Ada Smieya-Blaszak are fully devoted to preserving these animals and helping to insure that people will continue to love and learn about these big cats.
Shows will be performed daily at 5 and 7:30 p.m. with an added show at 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sunday. There will be no 5 p.m. show on July 26.
Finally, the long-standing tradition of a petting zoo will continue. It will be available to fair-goers from 10 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. daily.
