Running Costello posts 24th finish
Laurel Highlands boys track coach Bob Costello started and completed his 24th consecutive Boston Marathon Monday. The Connellsville resident finished 7,579th overall with a chip time of 3:43:32 and an official time of 3:47:54.
Costello’s split time at the halfway point was 1:51:36.

Gleason takes 2nd twice
Westminster College senior Jacob Gleason grabbed a pair of second place finishes for the Titans last weekend at the Mount Union College Invitational in Alliance, Ohio. The Uniontown graduate placed in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:47.0 and the 5,000 in a time of 15:41.70.

Steich hitless in win
Connellsville’s Amy Steich went hitless in two at-bats, but the University of Pittsburgh softball team squeezed past Connecticut, 4-3, Sunday in a Big East Conference game. Gina Bessolo improved to 8-9 overall, striking out six and walking only one.
