Clarion cruises to 31-6 win over California CLARION, Pa. (AP) – Robert Walker rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns as Clarion defeated California 31-6 Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (6-3, 2-2 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-West) held the Vulcans to 139 yards of total offense and nine first downs. California (6-3, 1-3) only converted only one third-down.

Clarion held Wesley Clemons, the fourth leading rusher in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, to 35 yards on 12 carries.

Brandon LeDonne completed only 3 of 26 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown – a 39-yard pass to Garvin Graves to cut Clarion’s lead to 7-6 in the first quarter.

Walker gave Clarion a 7-0 lead with 6:23 to play in the first with a 3-yard touchdown run and after LeDonne’s touchdown pass, Tim Connolly blocked the extra point to keep Clarion in the lead.

The Golden Eagles then scored three unanswered touchdowns.

Brandon Whitman caught a blocked punt and ran it five yards into the end zone with 12:46 to play in the half.

Adam Almashy, who went 5-of-14 for 86 yards, connected on a 22-yard pass to Ben Culver with 10:59 to play in the third quarter.

In the fourth, Walker had a 1-yard TD run that followed a 44-yard run for the last score of the game with 6:58 to play.

Hanover 35, Washington & Jefferson 14: HANOVER, Ind. – Brett Dietz completed 23-of-41 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns as Hanover beat Washington & Jefferson.

The Panthers (8-0) broke a 14-14 tie on a 10-play, 77-yard drive capped by Dietz’ 7-yard pass to Terrell Cummings with less than seven minutes remaining in the game. The play began a 21-point, four-minute scoring run to seal the victory.

The Presidents (6-2) tied the game when Brian Dawson, who was 23-of-39 with two touchdowns, connected with R.J. Zitzelberger on a 6-yard pass early in the fourth quarter. Washington and Jefferson’s Joey Nichols gained 158 yards on 35 carries, and receiver Mike Virgin had seven receptions for 143 yards.

Hanover broke a two-game losing streak against Washington and Jefferson.

Duquesne 59, Iona 10: PITTSBURGH – Niel Loebig threw five touchdown passes, including four in a 39-point second quarter, as Duquesne beat Iona.

Loebig’s performance overshadowed a 205-yard game by running back Mike Hilliard, who scored twice on 36 carries for the Dukes.

Duquesne (9-0, 6-0) moved one step closer to its fourth consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the win. The Dukes have won 21 straight conference games, but needed St. Peter’s to beat Fairfield to clinch the conference title. Fairfield won that game 27-14, also on Saturday.

Carnegie-Mellon 27, Chicago 10: PITTSBURGH – Brad Stanley rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns as Carnegie Mellon beat Chicago.

Led by Stanley, the Tartans (5-3, 2-1 University Athletic Association Conference) rushed for 296 yards – 11 yards more than the Maroons (4-4, 0-2) had on total offense – and controlled the clock, holding the ball for 35 minutes.

Geneva 27, Taylor 3: BEAVER FALLS – Ben Swallow threw for 216 yards and two touchdown passes as Geneva beat Taylor.

Gannon 21, Walsh 17: ERIE – Darmel Whitfield ran for 132 yards and Al Donadi scored from 1 yard with 2:28 left as Gannon came back to beat Walsh.

Slippery Rock 14, Lock Haven 7: LOCK HAVEN -Josh Kniess’ 1-yard touchdown run with 9:23 left in the fourth quarter broke a 7-7 tie and gave Slippery Rock a victory over Lock Haven.

Indiana, Pa. 33, Shippensburg 10: SHIPPENSBURG – Brian Eyerman threw three touchdown passes, including two that keyed a second-half comeback, as Indiana, Pa., beat.

Wittenberg 49, Allegheny 3: SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Jason Stephan rushed for 181 yards and five touchdowns as Wittenberg beat Allegheny.

St. Francis, Pa. 23, La Salle 16: PHILADELPHIA – Ryan Williams scored the game-winning touchdown as St. Francis, Pa. broke a 30-game losing streak with a victory over LaSalle.

Grove City 12, Alfred 7: GROVE CITY – Ross Trimmer had two interceptions as Grove City took advantage of three turnovers to beat Alfred.

Frostburg State 24, Westminster 17: CUMBERLAND, Md. -Grant Burrough threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns as Frostburg State beat Westminster.

Albany, N.Y. 32, Robert Morris 7: CORAOPOLIS – Jon George and Gary Jones each rushed for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns as Albany beat Robert Morris 32-7 on Saturday.
