Parker scores 3 touchdowns as IUP defeats Cal

By The 1 min read

Elice Parker scored all three touchdowns, one each in the first, second, and fourth quarters, to lead Indiana (Pa.) to a key 20-9 PSAC-West victory over visiting California (Pa.). The Vulcans have now lost 18 consecutive games to Indiana dating back to 1985. Parker scored on runs of two, three and 28 yards, gaining a team-high 92 yards rushing. Indiana’s starting quarterback Brian Eyerman missed the second half because of a concussion, but not before he set a school record in career passing yardage.

His 70 yards gave him 7,402 yards to surpass Tony Aliucci’s previous mark.

Brownsville graduate Justin Spence gained 71 yards on nine attempts and caught a pass for eight yards.

Beth-Center’s Gary Amos scored the Vulcans’ first points when he made a 25-yard field goal with 1:07 remaining in the third quarter.

California scored a touchdown late in the game when Dustin Strayer found Garvin Graves open for a 10-yard touchdown pass with 2:53 left in the game.

Strayer completed 19 passes for 238 yards. Wesley Clemons led the rushing attack with 100 yards on 19 carries.

Indiana won its seventh straight game to improve to 3-0 in the PSAC-West and 7-1 overall. The Vulcans fell to 1-2 in the conference and 5-2 overall.
