Rohanna leads PIAA Golf Championship YORK, Pa. – Waynesburg Central junior Robert Rohanna shot a 3-under 68 to take the first-round lead of the PIAA Boys’ Golf Championship at Heritage Hills Golf Resort on Monday.

Rohanna had a two-stroke lead over Radnor’s Adam Cohan, who shot a 1-under 70. Emmaus freshman Brian Belden and Benton junior Tyler Brewington had even-par 71s while Mark Cimarolli of Upper St. Clair and Pat Hardin of Freedom were at 72.

Penn Manor junior Jarred Texter, co-medalist in stroke play at the U.S. Junior Amateur, shot 74. Texter finished tied for fourth at last year’s PIAA championships.

In the PIAA girls’ championship at nearby Springwood Golf Club, Hempfield Area senior Katie Miller, last year’s runner-up, shot 3-over 75 for a five-stroke lead. Yvonne Kukora of Lower Moreland and Dover’s Laura Mengelkamp, both juniors, had 8-over 80s.

Connellsville’s Jordan Craig shot an 85 and is tied for ninth place.

The boys’ and girls’ championships conclude today.

Girls volleyball

Albert Gallatin 3, West Greene 0 – Albert Gallatin celebrated senior night with a three-game sweep of visiting West Greene in a non-section match, 15-8, 15-12 and 15-4.

Several Lady Colonial seniors starred in the win. Jessica Condoluci led the way with 11 service points and four kills, and Shaniqua Williams followed with seven service points and three kills.

Katie Thompson had a game-high 12 service points, and Katie Berish added eight.

Cassie Crilly led Albert Gallatin with five kills. Jessica Lemro chipped in with four.

The Lady Colonials improved their record to 6-13.

Girls soccer

Charleroi 3, Southmoreland 0 – Charleroi shut out visiting Southmoreland in the first round of the Class AA playoffs.

The Lady Scotties end their season with a 12-7 record after going 10-7-1 last year. Southmoreland finished second in Section 1-AA with an 11-3 mark. Jeannette finished first.
