Monessen topples Mapletown Quinton Martin rushed for 169 yards to break 1,000 for the season as he scored three touchdowns to lead playoff-bound Monessen (6-3, 6-1) over Mapletown (3-6, 2-5) in a Tri-County South Conference game, 35-8.
Martin scored on runs of 70, 13 and 41 yards for Monessen.
Monessen led with 294 total yards to Mapletown’s 89.
Southmoreland 25, McGuffey 0 – Shane Datz scored three touchdowns on runs of 13, 10 and five yards as Southmoreland (2-7) blanked McGuffey (0-9) in a non-section game.
John Mulhorn scored on a 17-yard interception to cap Southmoreland’s scoring.
Jefferson-Morgan 14, West Greene 6 – Joey Yokiel and Eric Swinchock scored rushing touchdowns on runs of 13 and two yards, as Jefferson-Morgan (2-8, 2-5) defeated West Greene (5-4, 3-4) in a Tri-County South Conference game.
The loss knocked the Pioneers out of the playoffs.
New Castle 13, Belle Vernon 10 – The No. 3-ranked Red Hurricanes (8-1) jumped out to an early 13-0 first-quarter lead and held on for a non-conference victory against the Leopards (7-2).
Both teams are bound for the playoffs.
In the third quarter, the Leopards’ Jon Fowler hit a 45-yard field goal, and Andrew Bell scored on a one-yard run.
