Cal U swimmers post wins
The California University women’s swimming team won its second meet in two days, capturing a five-team relay at Mansfield University Saturday. Friday evening the Lady Vulcans won a dual meet at Mansfield as they downed the Mounties, winning all 12 events.
The Vulcans won the 300 butterfly relay, 300 breaststroke relay, the 500 freestyle relay and the 1,500 freestyle relay.
Team scores were California 112, East Stroudsburg 96, Millersville 80, Lock Haven 78 and Mansfield 48.
California will host Fairmont in its home opener at 5 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Hamer Pool.
Women’s soccer
Bethany 2, Waynesburg 0 – Sacco and Cara Pasquinelli scored goals in the first half and the Bethany College women’s soccer team held on for a shutout of visiting Waynesburg College on Friday afternoon.
The Bison improve to 5-11 overall and 2-6 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Waynesburg falls to 2-13-1 and 0-8-1.
Waynesburg has only scored two goals in their last 11 games.
The Bethany defense limited Waynesburg to only six shots and junior keeper Maggie Kuhn stopped three shots to record her fourth shutout of the season.
Women’s volleyball
Muskingum 3, California University 2, Juniata 3, California 0 – After winning two matches Friday at the Juniata Tournament, the Vulcans lost two matches Saturday.
In the first game, California won the first two games against Muskingham, 30-20 and 30-24. Muskingham then won the next three games to take the match 3-2.
Jessica Brown had 18 kills and 18 digs, Allia Caresani had 52 assists and Michelle Morgan had 14 digs.
In the second match, California played host Juniata and lost, 3-0. Game scores were 30-22, 30-21 and 30-25.
Becky Meyers had 12 digs for the Vulcans, while Morgan posted 11 and Brown collected 10.
California’s Jessica Brown was named to the All-Tournament team.
California dropped to 15-11 and will host IUP at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
