W&J wraps up PAC crown with win over Waynesburg WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) – Joey Nichols ran for 226 yards and three touchdowns as Washington & Jefferson beat Waynesburg 28-21 to capture its 16th Presidents’ Athletic Conference title in 17 years on Saturday.

Washington & Jefferson (6-1, 5-0 ) entered the game ranked No. 14 in the Division III rankings and never trailed, although Waynesburg stayed close most of the day.

After Nichols ran 68 yards for the opening score, Jeff Dumm passed 7 yards to Jake Marcoux to tie the game for Waynesburg (4-3, 2-2).

Nichols gave the Presidents a 14-7 lead with a 3-yard run in the second quarter, but Dumm answered again with an 18-yard pass to Paul D’Imperio.

The win was the 20th consecutive conference victory for Washington & Jefferson.

California, Pa. 17, Mansfield 9: CALIFORNIA – California got 120 yards rushing from Wesley Clemons and an 83-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from R.J. Abercrombie as they beat Mansfield .

Mansfield (2-5), which scored all its points in the fourth quarter, had one final chance to score after forcing California to punt. But a drive that started at the California 35 with 2:07 left in the game ended 10 plays and 30 yards later when Mansfield turned the ball over on downs.

California (6-2) ran out the clock on its next possession.

Mike Dalicandro’s 38-yard field goal less than seven minutes into the game gave California a 3-0 halftime lead.

Garvin Graves scored on a 7-yard pass from Brandon LeDonne in the third quarter as California led 10-0.

Keefe Richards kicked a 26-yard field goal for Mansfield, five plays after LeDonne threw an interception deep in California territory.

Abercrombie returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown and a 17-3 California lead.

Duquesne 46, La Salle 0: PHILADELPHIA – Kyle Postell ran for three touchdowns and Duquesne scored 40 first-half points on the way to a victory over La Salle.

Westminster 19, Grove City 7: GROVE CITY – Scott Froelich rushed for his eighth consecutive 100-yard game and a touchdown as Grove City beat Westminster.

Slippery Rock 7, Edinboro 3: SLIPPERY ROCK – Josh Kniess rushed for 118 yards and the only touchdown as Slippery Rock beat Edinboro.

Indiana, Pa. 21, Lock Haven 12: INDIANA – Backup quarterback Kevin Weidl threw for two touchdowns and Mike Howard scored two more on a punt return and fumble recovery as Indiana, Pa. beat Lock Haven.

Gannon 49, Robert Morris 21: ERIE – Darmel Whitfield threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Gannon beat Robert Morris.

Walsh 31, Geneva 7: NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Derek Besgrove ran for a school-record 317 yards and two touchdowns to lead Walsh to a victory over Geneva.

Indianapolis 40, Mercyhurst 16: INDIANAPOLIS – Matt Kohn passed for 349 yards and four touchdowns as Indianapolis beat Mercyhurst.

Susquehanna 45, Juniata 17: SELINSGROVE – Jason Eck scored four rushing touchdowns as Susquehanna beat Juniata.

Bethany 31, Thiel 9: BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany, W.Va. rolled up 436 yards offense and got a 71-yard fumble return for a touchdown by defensive end Dan Carter in beating Thiel.

Carnegie-Mellon 27, Rose-Hulman 17: TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Brad Stanley rushed 32 times for 119 yards and one touchdown as Carnegie-Mellon beat Rose-Hulman.
