Penn State-Fayette wins doubleheader against W.C.C.C. After suffering a difficult 20-10 loss to Westmoreland County Community College during their last meeting, Penn State-Fayette came back to win both games of a doubleheader against W.C.C.C. 10-3 and 7-6 in collegiate baseball action at Hutchinson Ball Field.

“Everyone contributed today and we walked away feeling good,” said Penn State head coach Joe Gessner.

In the first game, Penn State’s Brandon Bryner had a triple, single and two RBI’s to lead the attack and Jared Early added a triple and two RBI’s.

Also contributing for PSU was Bill Gaboney and Brian Leichleiter who both added two singles.

Winning pitcher Ryan Gondek went the distance with three strikeouts and five walks.

W.C.C.C. was led by Joe Hutchinson and Anthony Miller each with two singles.

In game two, Bryner had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth inning to give PSU the 7-6 win.

The eighth inning began for PSU with a leadoff double by Early followed with a walk to Bill Gaboney. Winning pitcher Matt Green had a bunt sacrifice which put runners on second and third. Mike Miskanin tripled and W.C.C.C. made the decision to load the bases which brought Bryner up to bat. He rifled one to right field to score Miskanin for the winning run.

“Because we lost two games straight including one badly to W.C.C.C., this was an important win,” said Gessner. “Hopefully, this gave us some momentum.”

In addition to the game-winning hit, Bryner also had two doubles and Miskanin had a triple and single.

Losing pitcher Chris Evancho homered for W.C.C.C., Harsh had a double and single and Ryan Watson had two singles.
