Centurions dominate Linden Hall qualifier
Five Greensburg Central Catholic golfers dominated the top 10 the WPIAL Section II, Division II qualifier held at Linden Hall Golf Course Monday. The DeNunzio’s – Dave and twin brother Ron – finished one-two, with Dave posting a low-round 3-over-par 75.
The top 10 boys in each section qualify for the WPIAL semifinals. Ron DeNunzio finished just two strokes off the pace, while Bentworth’s Bill Reed and Nick Thompson finished with scores of 78 and 79, respectively.
Greensburg’s C.J. Bell rounded out the top five with a 79.
The Centurions’ Dustin Dreher and Eddie Mattock also qualified with rounds of 80 and 83, respectively, while Beth-Center junior Brandon Boledovic, playing his first year of golf, finished in eighth place with an 87.
“I was very proud of how he shot today,” said Beth-Center coach Gene Fox. “This is the first time that Brandon played Linden Hall.”

Beth-Center’s Chris Sckena defeated Charleroi’s Matt Zahand in a one-hole sudden death playoff to earn the alternate spot with a score of 90.
“Chris has been playing as our No. 1 golfer,” Fox said. “He started off with a rough front nine and turned it around on the back. His performance was admirable.”
Other Beth-Center finishers included Aric Ilko (93), Justin Sckena (94) and Justin Prekrel (95).
Frazier also participated in the qualifier, with senior Chris Bissett firing a round of 92. Bissett was followed by Beau Nicklow (105), Patrick Black (106), Tom Farrell (108) and Jeff Adams (109).
