Pittsburgh Hoops Classic’s Camp staff announced
The list of instructors for the Pittsburgh Hoops Classic’s Fundamental Basketball Camp has been finalized. The camp will be held Monday at Laurel Highlands High School from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. It’s for boys and girls from ages 8-14.
The featured instructor at the camp will be Greg Beckwith, a former Laurel Highlands and Richmond University, basketball star.
Also helping out with the camp are:
l Marvin Wright, president of the Pittsburgh Hoops Classic and assistant basketball coach at Westinghouse High School.
l Mark John, Laurel Highlands High School basketball coach and athletic director.
l Nick Bosnic, former LH and Duquesne University basketball star, who is now the head basketball coach at Connellsville High School.
l Rob Kezmarsky, a former LH star, who is now head basketball coach at Uniontown High School.
l Mark Vassar, a former Uniontown High School and Youngstown State University basketball standout.
l David Winfrey, a former top guard for the Uniontown High School Red Raiders. A starter for Pitt-Greensburg University as a freshman this past year, Winfrey led the Raiders to the WPIAL championship and the PIAA championship game in his senior year.
l Rob Davis, a four-year player at Uniontown High School.
l Rob Davis Sr., assistant director of basketball operations for the Pittsburgh Hoops Classic. He was a PIAA basketball official for 35 years and a WVIAC basketball official for five years.
The Pittsburgh Hoops Classic is sponsored by The Horse Will Drink, a non-profit foundation, which tries to help underprivileged youths in the Pittsburgh area. The Pittsburgh Hoops Classic sponsors an annual all-star game between the top players in Pennsylvania and the best players from across the nation.
The Pittsburgh Hoops Classic has brought its Skills Contest to Uniontown High School for the past two years.
