Colonial golfers in strong showing at home Drew Callahan shot a 4-over-par 39 to lead Albert Gallatin to a 204-221 Division I, Section 2 victory at Duck Hollow Golf Club over visiting Yough.
The Colonial starting six had a strong overall showing with Cory Moore shooting a 40, Kevin Uglik carding a 41 and Josh Allison and Tom Corazzi both finishing with 42. Jim Smith’s 43 was not used.
Tony Fabbri was the medallist for Yough (0-2, 0-2) with a 38. Adam Kloskey added a 41.
Albert Gallatin (1-1, 1-2) hosts Carmichaels this afternoon in a non-section match.
Uniontown 197, Connellsville 207 – The Falcons put up a fight, but the Red Raiders escaped Pleasant Valley Country Club with a Division I, Section 2 road victory.
Greg Franko and Luke Dvorchak led Uniontown (2-0, 2-0) by sharing the team-low round of 4-over-par 38. Trey Mallicone and Zach Rockwell both shot 40 while Jarrod Bartok closed the scoring rounds with a 41. David Bobish’s 42 was not used.
Jonathan Luczka was the medallist for Connellsville (1-1, 2-1) with a 37. Jeff Nicholson finished with a 40 and Jordan Craig carded a 41. Nathan Pritts had a 43 with Kevin Bell’s 46 rounding out the scoring.
Laurel Highlands 194, Southmoreland 229 – Jeremy Boskovitch had the low round of the day for the Mustangs, a 2-over-par 37, to carry the home team to a Division I, Section 2 at Duck Hollow Golf Club.
Santino Marchitello and Chris Bonchosky both scored 38, Matt Hoover carded a 39 and Matt McCabe closed the scoring rounds with a 42. Bruce Burish’s 48 wasn’t used.
Tom Beal was the lone golfer for Southmoreland (0-2, 0-4) under 40 with a 39. Jason Sinsley and Josh Hodgkiss both shot 45.
Laurel Highlands (2-0, 4-1) travels to Butler’s Golf Course this afternoon to play Elizabeth-Forward in a non-section match.
Greensburg C.C. 206, Beth-Center 240 – The Centurions showed why they are the favorites to win the Division II, Section 2 crown with a convincing win on the road at Nemacolin Country Club.
Eddie Mattack, golfing as the No. 6 man, shot a 1-over-par 39 to lead Greensburg Central Catholic. Ron DeNunzio had a 40 for the Centurions (2-0, 4-0) while Dave DeNunzio and Dustin Dreher both shot a 42.
Roger Myers was the low man for the Bulldogs (1-1, 2-1) with a 41. Brandon Boledovic shot a 46 and Justin Sckena finished with a 47.
Charleroi 208, Frazier 242 – Anthony Amprin and Justin Piot both shot 38 for the Cougars to lead the home team to a Division II, Section 2 win at Mon Valley Country Club over the visiting Commodores.
Joe Sabo shot a 42 and Jim Moss and Dennis Shiflet both finished with 45. Charleroi improves to 1-1 in the section.
Jeff Adams was the low man for Frazier (0-1, 0-2) with a 42. Tom Farrell had a 48 with Mike Hatalowich carding a 49 for the Commodores.
Frazier traveled to Latrobe Elks Country Club Monday, losing a 203-257 non-section match to Derry. Josh Terrero finished with a 38 and Nathan Krinock had a 39 to lead the Trojans.
Jeff Adams was once again the low man for Frazier with a 48.
Carmichaels 204, West Greene 252 – The Mikes evened their Division II, Section 8 record at 1-1 with a convincing home win at Carmichaels Golf Course. The Pioneers lost for the first time, dropping to 1-1 in the section and 2-1 overall.
Jamie Bandish shot a 2-under-par 35 for the Mikes. Joey Menhart was also under par with a 36. Jeremy McIntyre finished with a 42, Jamie Kowalczyk had a 45 and Sean McCombs rounded out the scoring with a 46. Ken Tennant’s 50 was not used.
Chris Simms was the low man for the Pioneers with a 46. Joe Welch had a 47 and John Szarell finished with a 49.
